All About Me

Momma Maggie is white and tan with short fur. She has pink around her muzzle, ears that sometimes still straight out to the side, and hazel eyes.

Momma Maggie is calm, quiet, and incredibly easy to handle. She has the sweetest look in her beautiful eyes. Although she had her puppies only about five weeks ago, she has made a speedy recovery. Want a dog to cuddle up next to you on the couch? Maggie loves snuggling! She chooses a favorite spot to nap and will almost always return to the same place—so there is no worry of her randomly hopping on all the furniture.

Although she can muster up her energetic side for walks and going outside in the yard, Maggie mostly enjoys spending her days just sitting and sleeping next to her person. She has a great temperament, and never jumps on people, never barks at other dogs (in fact, she has never once barked in front of her foster mom yet), and never tries to get to food that is not given to her. She is house-trained and crate trained, and does well being left alone at home in her crate for a few hours a day and throughout the night.

At the beginning in her new home, she may show signs of anxiety overnight; so she will need an adopter who can be patient with her for the first few weeks. She likes to mosey around a yard, but not run, so she doesn’t need a large space. Sometimes she picks up scents in the grass and will go wherever her nose takes her. She listens to Maggie, come! and understands hand motions signaling for her to come back to you.

Maggie is also somewhat receptive to the command Sit, and very good at responding to No. She is learning that Crate means bedtime.

Maggie does not play with toys, but enjoys bully sticks in her crate to keep herself occupied. She has not spent any time inside around children in the care of her foster mom, although considering how gentle and low-energy she is, it would not be surprising if she became a child's best friend! While on walks, Maggie has briefly encountered children and other dogs, and pays them no mind. She simply keeps on walking (even when another dog is barking at her!).

She is also very trusting and does just great around visitors. Maggie is an incredibly sweet girl who is very easy to care for! If you are looking for your first-ever dog, Maggie would be just perfect!
