I love to play, go for walks, ride in the car, and mostly just be wherever my people are. Over the past year, I have become increasingly uncomfortable with unfamiliar people coming into the house. I will bark and guard the home, and I have nipped at unfamiliar visitors entering my space. I have never had a full bite incident, but because of my size, strength, and protective nature, this is something my family takes very seriously. Interestingly, this behavior is very specific to my home. Out on walks, I do well around unfamiliar people and dogs and do not react to dogs we pass. I currently live happily with another dog, although I would not be comfortable with an unfamiliar dog simply being brought into my home. I have never been tested with cats. Because of this, my ideal home is with someone who has experience with large, powerful breeds and understands protective dogs. I would thrive in a quieter household with a fenced yard, relatively few visitors, and someone who enjoys getting outside for long walks but also wants a giant companion hanging around the house with them. While I currently live with and love children, my family feels that a home without young children would be the safest and best fit for my next chapter. There is no resource guarding around food or toys. Mostly, I just want to play, hang out, and be close to my people. My family is not making this decision lightly. They love me enormously. But their household has changed as their family has grown, and managing a 115-pound protective dog alongside multiple small children and a busy home is no longer the right situation for any of us. There is no deadline for finding me a home. I will remain safely and happily with my family until the right person comes along. Physical Description: Sam is a handsome 15-year-old gray tuxedo cat with bright golden-green eyes, a white chest, white socks, and a solid, healthy-looking build. His most charming feature is that his front feet turn outward, so when he sits very prim and proper, his little paws point in opposite directions. Despite his age, he is incredibly spry and does not look or act like a typical senior cat.

Personality Description: Sam is one of the sweetest cats we have ever known. He loves his people deeply and simply wants to be close to them. He purrs almost as soon as you come near, happily sleeps beside you, and leans his whole head into big head pets. He can be vocal when mealtime is approaching, but once fed he is calm, affectionate, and extremely low-maintenance. His favorite things are watching birds from his window bed, playing with string toys, doing enormous stretches, and spending quiet time near his person. He has also lived peacefully with a respectful dog, although he prefers dogs to give him some personal space.

History: Sam was adopted from the SPCA of Wake County approximately one year ago. Before moving into our current multi-cat home, he lived as the only cat for more than a year and never once urinated or sprayed outside the litter box, even when we traveled. After moving in with other cats, he became increasingly stressed and began territorial spraying in shared areas. He does not seek out fights, but he may hiss or swat when another cat enters his space. He has not been known to spray while housed separately, so we believe he needs a peaceful home where he can be the only cat. Sam has received veterinary care through the SPCA and has had one checkup since adoption. He is missing several back teeth, and a veterinarian recommended possible dental extractions. He also has an unbiopsied growth near his thyroid. Despite these concerns, he remains active, playful, affectionate, and full of life. We are looking for a safe, loving home where he can feel secure and spend his senior years being someone’s devoted companion.

History: My fiance and I saved her after witnessing her cross the 110 Freeway. She was almost killed, and we stopped in the middle of the freeway and grabbed her. She was malnourished, banged up with bloody paws, and covered in fleas. We rehabilitated her while searching for her owner with no success. She has been with us for about six weeks now and in that time she has come so far. We got her spayed, chipped, and vaccinated! She is in great health and ready to find her forever family.

Personality Description: Are you looking for a sweet, smart, and silly companion? Princess might be the addition you need to your little pack! She truly is the PERFECT dog in almost every way, especially for a lower energy household. 99% of the time this sleepy girl wants to lay about soaking up the sun or snuggling on the couch. She also enjoys sniffing on short walks, people watching, and learning new skills. Since undergoing heartworm treatment she has developed exercise and heat intolerance, so a slower paced life would be ideal for this retired mama. From our experience she has done well with proper slow introductions to some dogs, still shows some leash reactivity towards other dogs on walks, is very sweet and respectful around kids with supervision, and desperately loves every person she meets. She has a breed appropriate high prey drive towards cats and should absolutely not live with one. She is potty, crate, and leash trained and has picked up obedience training really well. We have even started some scent work and were working towards service animal training. She can be on the anxious/nervous side, but we have done a lot of confidence and nervous system regulation training with her and it has never manifested as resource guarding/nipping/growling/etc. Usually it looks more like hiding out or wanting to be close to her people.

History: From what we can tell, Princess had spent her entire life tied up and living outside. An elderly neighbor had taken her in from someone who had been backyard breeding her, had her spayed, and really loved on her - but still had her living tied up outside. In the cold snap of November 2024, we decided to take him up on his request to bring her inside for her safety. We had never planned on it being a permanent situation, but upon learning she had an extensive case of heartworm, hookworms, etc. and just falling head over heels for her we decided to keep her through treatment and try to integrate her into our family. Since that time, we have done private training with her that she has responded well to in every way, except that she still reacts to our cat. Integrating/socializing them hasn't been successful, despite our best efforts, and keeping them separated permanently in our small space until they *maybe* figure it out isn't sustainable so we've made the heart wrenching decision to find her a forever home free of felines where she can thrive.

Personality Description: Saltie’s happy face is never wider than when he is outside on a walk. He loves to swim and nap in sunbeams with you on the couch. He is prone to resource guarding and would do best with a single person without children.

Clementine

Physical Description: Very pretty long-haired brown tabby with mix of grey, white bib and feet, super long whiskers

Personality Description: Can be aloof but enjoys good petting, especially around the ears. Usually sleeps on the bed with me but not usually snuggled up close. Has allowed my friend’s dog near her but she treats him with suspicion. My best guess for a match with a new home is likely a single person or a couple without other pets.

History: Clementine was born in a litter of five kittens to a person who needed to enter a nursing home and had to find homes for all five plus the mother. She has lived with me in two apartments and has been in this house for nine years. She has always been exclusively indoors, has had one bout of fleas (about 6-7 years ago), and has had one occurrence of a kidney or bladder stone which occurred after I switched her food from Ian’s dry food and friskies wet food, to Costco brands. Since switching back she has had no other health events.

Physical Description: Little Girl is a petite brown and white tabby with the prettiest face!

Personality Description: Little Girl is a spunky little thing! She loves human interaction and getting up to kitten antics. She is a bit more independent than her mega-cuddly brother (also listed here), but gets jealous if he hogs all the attention! She is brave and bold, actually intimidating my own grown up cat, who is all big talk/hiss, with her unphased demeanor. Little Girl adores running after treats and has a tendency to lick her lips when people walk into the room. While she always enjoys the presence of familiar people, she gets more affectionate once someone has been sitting still for a little bit, taking that as her cue to rub up and climb on you. I believe she could be a great child-friendly kitten for gentle/somewhat patient kids. Little Girl is quite attached to her brother and they are incredibly sweet together.

History: Along with her brother, Little Girl is a sweet kitten born into a local community cat colony. The kittens were brought into our home with their mama when just a few days old and were raised in our living room. They were weaned at mama's discretion at around 4 months of age, giving them the benefit of being pretty well-adjusted to the world! They have been around other cats in the colony and have also had limited contact with our housecats (the kittens are fine with them, but our cats are not to amenable!).

Personality Description: Little Boy is a SUCH a people-person! He can be a little nervous/shy around strangers, but ultimately he is a big cuddle bug. He loves to be picked up and held, cradled like a baby, and rubbed on his tummy. He even jumps up on our shoulders! He is delighted with all attention and interaction and loves to play. He also loves burrowing in loose clothing. I believe he could be a great child-friendly kitten. Little Boy is quite attached to his sister, and they are incredibly sweet together.

He is a gorgeous boy with the softest coat but needs a patient adopter who doesn’t mind that he’s not going to be a snuggle bug—at least not at first. Who knows if he will warm up with time? Pierogi is much more attention seeking and likes his pets. They both enjoy sleeping on the bed at night and would do best in a quiet home with someone who can spend time with them. Physical Description: Blanche is a male tuxedo with some white markings on his face and a short tail. He is on the larger side. Morris is a small female calico. Dorothy is an average size male black cat. Sophia is not pictured. He is a male tuxedo on the larger side. He looks just like Blanche but has a long tail and no white markings on his face. I have pictures if interested.

Personality Description: Blanche and Morris are a bonded pair. Blanche is very loving and friendly. He is chill a lot of the time but can get the zoomies and be playful with his siblings. He is big so when they play it can get loud. He loves a cat tree and toys to swat around on the floor. Morris is also loving. She is the only one that can be held for a brief moment. She is interested in everything and likes to be around you and see what you are doing. Her curiosity can cause her to get into things so you’ll have to cat proof for that. She also loves toys, a cat tree, and a good scratcher. She also gets cold sometimes so she loves a place to get under a light blanket. She also loves to cuddle Blanche in a nice cozy bed. Dorothy is into lasers, shadows, and lights. He can be shy sometimes but he warms up quickly. He also loves to be pet, is friendly, and loves to be playful with his siblings. He will also talk to the any lights shining in the house. He loves the cat tree too. Sophia is a love bug. He wants to be pet even before he’ll eat his food. He is more chill than the other 3. He doesn’t jump or climb high. He can get the zoomies sometimes but more often that not, he is just chilling on the couch or cat tree. He also loves toys. They are all litter box and crate trained.

History: They are all almost 5 years old. They’ve been together since they were babies and would all do well in a home together but Blanche and Morris must go together. I also think Sophia wouldn’t mind if he went to a different home because he’s more chill than the others and he likes a lot of affection that is hard for him to get when the others want affection too.
