Listing Date: January 28, 2020

Birth Date: January 1, 2019

Weight: 67 pounds

Breed: German Shepard/Husky mix

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Up-to-date

Physical Description: Black and tan German Shepard/Husky mix.

Personality Description: We adopted Xena from the county animal shelter 5 months ago. She is truly a great dog, loves belly rubs and playing fetch and kissing anyone who'll allow it. She walks calmly on a leash (as long as no other dogs are nearby, see below) and is loyal and loving. Unfortunately, she's shown some resource guarding issues with super young children (ages 1 - 3 years), especially boys. Although we've been working on this with a trainer, we feel it's an unsafe situation for the young children in our house as well as for Xena and would like to find another home for her. She has been fine with our older nieces and nephews who are 8, 9, and 12, so we think she would be totally fine in a house with kids in high school or older. Or, of course, a house with no children. She also does not like other dogs. We've been working with a trainer on this issue for several months and she has shown a lot of progress, but it would be best if whoever adopts her form us has the time, money, motivation, and patience to continue training her. She is spayed, housebroken, has a microchip, and is up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm, and flea meds.

History: Xena was found by the county last fall on the side of a main highway that runs through the state.

If interested in Xena, contact Jeanette OConnor at [email protected].

History: PJ is part of a 4 kitten litter. Two of his siblings have found their forever homes. His mother's owner moved out-of-state and could not take her. She also didn't know mama cat was pregnant. I've already got cats of my own and just can't keep another one.

Listing Date: January 20, 2020

Birth Date: May 5, 2016

Breed: Calico

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Up-to-date

Physical Description:

Personality Description: Glass is 4-years-old. She's extremely snuggly and she talks a lot and loves if you talk back to her. She is spayed and microchipped and up to date on all her shots, but soon will need her annuals again (I can find out when by contacting her vet). She also prefers two open litter boxes instead of closed boxes. She has lived with dogs and cats her entire life so she could do it again, but she is happier in an only pet home. She can be shy when a new man enters the home, but warms up quickly once she gets a good smell in! I have no idea why she is like that, but as I said, it takes her only a few minutes to warm back up to her bold-self. I hate to find her a new home, but my situation right now is not the best for a couple more months and I have no other option.

Listing Date: January 13, 2020

Birth Date: October 25, 2017

Breed: DSH

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Up to date

Physical Description: Beautiful petite dilute calico who has had one of her rear legs amputated.

Personality Description: Sweet, cuddly, playful, energetic, curious, brave, and loves attention.

History: I rescued this sweet girl in November with the intention of having her become an addition to the family, but it turns out she does not get along with other cats at all (she terrified my other cats and has to be kept in a separate room). She loves people, though, and wants to be with you at all times. Right before I rescued her, she was brought to the shelter with an injury on her right rear leg. Unfortunately her leg had to be amputated, but that does not hold her back at all. She can climb, run, and use the litter box like any other cat.

Breed: Grey and white tuxedo

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Up to date

Physical Description: 12 lbs. , very handsome. Healthy weight. Grey and white tuxedo.

Personality Description: He likes to eat, sleep in the couch next to you and play with string. He tends to keep to himself but is affectionate after he gets to know you. Has been in homes with other cats and has not been aggressive, but likes his space. Would be best in a home where he is the only cat.

Listing Date: January 2, 2020

Birth Date:

Breed: Domestic longhair

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Unknown

Physical Description: Grey long haired domestic cat with a white chest and a very pink nose

Personality Description: Very friendly, and very much wants a home. He will let me stroke him and sit with him but is too skittish to let me pick him up. Seems very loving and would welcome other cats, my cats hiss and growl and try and attack him and he stays very calm and just rolls over showing them his tummy and shows no display of aggression. I can't keep him because my cats refuse to accept him.

History: Started hanging around my house a few weeks ago and I thought he was a neighbourhood cat but the condition of his coat and the fact that he started sleeping on my patio furniture even in the rain made me realize he is homeless

If interested in Smokestack, contact Michelle Pender at [email protected].

Listing Date: January 2, 2020

Birth Date: February 14, 2019

Weight: 55 pounds

Breed: Dane, pit

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Up to date on Rabies, parvo, distemper, and heartworms

Physical Description: Beautiful, short-haired dog with black and white markings looking for loving home. Unsure of breed but we've been calling him a Toy Dane.

Personality Description: He absolutely loves to cuddle and thinks he's a lap dog. Knows basic commands and is house trained, but would benefit from behavior training. Would do best with experienced owner with no other pets. Older children (14+) ok.

History: Found in poor shape running down Briggs Ave and 147 about 7 months ago. Since that time he has been treated for injuries and is in good health. Unfortunately, he requires more training than I am able to handle while in school and raising a toddler. I am desperate to find him a good home and do not want to resort to a shelter. Please help!

If interested in Briggs, contact Anna Brockenbrough at [email protected].

Listing Date: December 31, 2019

Birth Date: September 1, 2017

Weight: 70 pounds

Breed: Mixed - hound/pointer

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: Up-to-date

Physical Description: Black and white

Personality Description: Ollie is a happy, energetic, and loving dog. He is great with other dogs and kids and loves to play and receive attention.

History: I found Ollie outside of my house in rural Warren County, NC when he was around 10 weeks old. He was small, cold, and hungry. I thought that I would keep him for a few weeks and here we are two years later. He is a highly energetic and loving dog that loves to run, play with other dogs at the dog park, and sleep next to you. Shortly after moving to Durham, I realized that I wasn't going to have the time or money to take care of him the way he needs to be taken care of. I work 9-10+ hour days and he stays either crated or holed up in my room. I am looking for a home where he will have plenty of room to run outside off-leash or with an owner who will take him to the dog park or on daily runs. He loves to be petted and to have attention, so I am ideally looking for someone who wants to give attention to a very loving and lovable dog.

If interested in Ollie, contact Alex Borst at [email protected].

Listing Date: December 27, 2019

Birth Date: December 1, 2016

Breed: Mixed

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Vaccination Status: We got him a rabies shot and 1st of 2 distemper. Needs 2nd distemper mid-January.

Physical Description: This is a wonderfully sweet stray kitty that has been living in our neighborhood. We were able to crate him and take him to our vet and found that he's in great health, neutered, about 4-5 years old, 7-1/2 pounds. Negative for FeLV. He's got beautiful green eyes, a very healthy coat and per our vet, is in great health.

Personality Description: This kitty is very trusting of people although remains territorial about his food - understandably. He walks around with his tail high indicating happiness and lets us scratch his head, ears, etc. With a little patience and time he will be the best indoor cat. He was easy to crate and is very curious. Also loves to eat.

History: Patches is a stray who's been living in our neighborhood (downtown Chapel Hill) for a few months now. He has no chip and has his ear tipped which would indicate a feral cat but he's quite friendly and we think may have had college students taking care of him.

If interested in Gypsy, contact Caroline Spencer at [email protected].
