Joanie is a small tannish-colored dog with white around her muzzle and big round adorable brown eyes. She is a long-haired breed, currently with a short haircut.
Joanie is playful and very friendly. She is always happy and loves spending time with her people. Sometimes she climbs on the back of the couch and lies down with her head resting on my husband's shoulder. Joanie enjoys going for walks and occasionally the game of fetch. Joanie is crate trained and housebroken. She just came into the program, and when first meeting dogs, she is wary; so we are working on slow introductions.

Joanie is allergic to fleas and should remain on flea prevention at all times. She has partial hair loss (thin hair) on her back, caused by a prior skin condition that is resolved. She wears a sweater now that it’s winter, which looks adorable and totally covers this area (see photo below the profile). As Joanie has hair and not fur, she will need to be groomed on a regular basis.
Joanie was found as a stray and came to IAR from a local shelter.
IAR subsidizes post-adoption professional training with Jane Marshall (www.cheerydogs.com) to encourage a life-long and successful bond between the dog and the adopter. Group classes for puppies and adult dogs are provided at a substantial discount to IAR adopters.
