All About Me

Dutchess is as gentle and elegant as her name. Extending her friendship generously, Dutch would do well in a home that includes other dogs, dog-savvy cats, or older children. She enjoys frolicking with the resident dogs in her foster home, taking naps in her bed, and basking in the sunlight. She also delights in chewing on bones and other toys!

With her great love for the outdoors, Dutch needs her castle to come with a fenced yard. She is curious and requires ample opportunities to put her hound dog sniffer to good use! When not exploring the fenced yard, Dutch enjoys going on walks--especially in wooded areas with plenty of interesting smells. Although she often wants to follow a scent trail wherever it leads, she is easily redirected.

Although her name harkens nobility, Dutchess has an open palate and enjoys all kibble and treats. She has no royal food taster, so she will gently take unfamiliar foods and place them on the floor for inspection. After a good sniff, Dutch is happy to take a bite of delectables! In addition to her two daily meals, she also enjoys a snack at noon and bedtime.

Dutch is house-trained, and she sleeps peacefully through the night in her bed. An intelligent beauty, she has learned Sit, No, and Down. Dutchess also knows to come when her name is called, and she rides well in the car. She is working on harness-training and crate-training, and she would benefit from redirection when putting her feet up on the kitchen counter to look for food.
