Meet Harley!

Harley is a beautiful, young, and sweet Blue Tick Coonhound who absolutely adores being loved. Her foster says she is quite the attention hog!

A true empath, she both expresses a lot of emotion and is sensitive to the emotions of humans. She will thrive in an active home with a lot of love and positive reinforcement.

Oh, boy, does this girl love her food and treats! So she is easy to train. Harley knows Sit and Place, and is working on Stay and Down. She is house-trained and crate-trained, sleeping in her crate at night.

Harley is a medium-energy gal who enjoys exploring the outdoors and entertaining herself with her stuffed toys. Harley wears a Halti while taking walks and will occasionally bark at a passing dog or pull on the leash if she passes a squirrel. Because she is a scent hound, Harley will benefit greatly from time to move freely in a securely fenced area as well as regular walks. For this reason, preference will be given to an active or outdoorsy lifestyle home with a fenced yard.

Fairly independent, Harley would much rather engage with humans than with dogs. She is comfortable being around other dogs, although she can be a little skittish and shy at first. A typical hound, Harley has a strong prey drive and so should not be in a home with small animals. Familiarity with her breed, or a willingness to learn, will be helpful for her future family.

PHYSICAL
Harley has the classic mottled (or 'ticked') black pattern in the white parts of her glossy coat. Her domed hound dog head and droopy-eared charm is irresistible.

HEALTH
Harley is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative.

HISTORY
Harley came to IAR from a Good Samaritan in a rural county where she was not getting along with neighborhood chickens.
