All About Me

PHYSICAL
Piper Pup has short fur that is tan and white, with a black stripe on one side of her face, black around her eyes, and pink surrounding her mouth.

PROFILE
Piper Pup is as sweet as can be and will beguile you with her expressive face and soulful eyes. She loves meeting new people and dogs, and playing tug-of-war. Piper is house-trained and crate-trained, and will stay quiet in her crate during the workday as long as she gets short potty walks every few hours.

Ha--she doesn't know her size and thinks she fits nicely on laps! Piper loves to give kisses (but politely knows to wait until invited). Although she likes kids. she would be too high energy for young kids and might inadvertently knock them over.

She likes to watch TV (especially animal shows and cartoon dogs--she loves Scooby Doo!). Among her other favs are blueberries and peanut butter.

Piper is very well-behaved and listens very well to No. She has learned Sit, Shake, Wait (check out her video!), and Down, and always aims to please. She is learning to walk well on a leash and loves exploring.

Piper will thrive with a family who will give her plenty of cuddles and love.

HEALTH
Piper is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and heartworm negative. She had TPLO (knee) surgery on her left knee, which is almost fully healed. She will need the same surgery on her right knee, and if her new family will take her to/from appointments and support her in surgery recovery, IAR will pay for the surgery (along with all medications and any follow-up costs during the recovery period).

During the initial 8-week period, she will need medication and massages twice daily, and must be kept in a crate. For the first 4 weeks, she will be able to go out only for potty breaks; for the next 4 weeks she will be able to go on controlled leash walks.

After that, she can be loose inside the home and will be able to go on long leashed walks. Until Piper completes that surgery, she will not be allowed to run loose or play with other dogs. Once the surgery recovery is complete, Piper would love to run freely in a fenced area.

HISTORY
Piper was surrendered to a local shelter.
