My given name is Percy Jackson, but you can call me Percy, Percible, or Percy-wercy! My foster parents say that not only am I a good boy, I am the best boy! Now, let me tell you a little about myself:
I sleep about 20 hours a day. My favorite spots are near my foster mama's feet, on a blanket on the couch, or in one of my dog beds.
For about 30 minutes a day, I want to play. This is usually around the witching hour when everyone is getting ready for bed. I like to trot quickly around the room with my humans, get belly rubs, and run after my small stuffies with my little legs.
I'm a Velcro dog by nature--think of me as one of Newtown's Laws: When you're in motion, I'm in motion. This does mean I have some anxiety about my humans leaving. That's about the only time I bark: when someone leaves or when they come back. Because I'm older and a little hard of hearing, sometimes I think they've left when they're really just in another room. But all is well when I see them again!
I'm a patient observer. My foster home has a rambunctious two-year-old and a cat. If the cat wants to sniff my food first or if the toddler is the one pouring my kibble into my bowl, I am fine with letting them. I just wag my tail and patiently wait so I'm not in the way until I feel like there's enough space for me.
I've got a pretty easy potty/walk routine. I'm good with just being let out in the fenced yard. When my humans are home, I am let out every 2.5-3 hours. But I can hold it when they're gone for 4 hours. Walks tire out my little legs, so although I enjoy a midday walk with my foster mom, sometimes I can go only about 10 houses down before I'm ready to head back. Sometimes she carries me like a baby, and I feel so safe and happy, and I close my eyes and snuggle into her chest. I do need a coat because I get quite chilly, and without one I would have a hard time warming up when I come back inside.
So that's my story! Oh, wait, my foster mom told me she wants to add more about me, so see below.
HISTORY
Percy was picked up as a stray in a rural county and had lived in a local shelter for a month.
HEALTH
In the month since Percy has been in our care he has aged backwards a few years! His nails were curled under his toes, but now they are nice and short! And his rump and tail were completely furless; but with TLC, steroids, and supplements the fur is growing back!
Percy is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. He is scheduled for a dental cleaning in mid-December.
PHYSICAL
Percy has the classic beagle colors (black and tan), with whitening in his face and the floppiest of ears.
