All About Me

PERSONALITY & BEHAVIORS
Ellerbe (aka Bella) is an affectionate and playful goofball! She loves to snuggle, especially once she has exhausted some of her seemingly boundless energy. So this girl needs a lot of exercise, especially long walks and plenty of playtime.

Because Ellerbe has not yet gotten past the puppy stage of mouthing of hands, she should not be in a home with young children. She has had few new experiences in her short life, and therefore at first is often wary of new people. We are looking for a household that can take the time to socialize her gradually and to help her build confidence. Although Ellerbe shows some fear around dogs that are large and/or exuberant, she may coexist well with another dog if she is given time for a slow introduction.

We are working on crate- and house-training. She is accustomed to potty breaks about every 5 hours during the day and sleeps through the night without one.

Ellerbe would love being by your side. She favors a lap dog lifestyle and would prefer sharing your bed if you'll let her!

Ellerbe is still learning her leash manners and will need continued work with treats and vocal commands. It's so hard to avoid those distractions in the thrilling world of chipmunks and squirrels! When on the street, she is often scared of some dogs and passers-by, and will bark to let them know about it. But she is easily redirected with a gentle tug on the leash; and she warms up to dogs and people who greet her calmly.

PHYSICAL
Ellerbe is likely a Miniature Poodle mix, and therefore must be groomed every 4-6 weeks.
She has a mostly white coat with a face mask that adorably bears a resemblance to a raccoon. She has black eyes, a black nose, black floppy ears, and short legs with a smidge of black fur on the toes.

HEALTH
Ellerbe is up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

HISTORY
Ellerbe's former owner was unable to care for her due to medical issues.
