All About Me

Carmella is lovely. She has dark gray fur with the slightest cream splotches, which is as soft as a chinchilla's, and the most beautiful green eyes.

Carmella is just great with people. She peeps instead of meowing (the most adorable thing ever), loves tummy rubs and sitting on laps, and sleeps right up next to you at night. She spent the first eight years of her life as an only cat, and she's just now getting to know other felines. So far, she's pretty certain she could live without them. She is in no way vicious toward other cats, or even dogs (she growls, but then just runs and hides), but she would probably be most comfortable with only human companionship. As an older cat (who is also front declawed), Carmella has perfect manners. You couldn't ask for a better lap cat, or one who would be more appreciative to spend her days next to you on the sofa. *Carmella will be available for adoption in February 2011. She's currently participating in a study at NCSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital for cats with HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), a heart condition common in cats which will require medication daily and an annual ECG. Luckily, the medication at least is cheap 🙂 a month's supply costs around $5. Carmella is a doll at taking her pill; she loves pill pockets! All the students/vets said Carmella was just the sweetest. When they were taking a blood sample and performing the ECG, she was licking their fingers.*

History

Carmella's owner was forced to leave her home when she was dealing with a terminal illness. Her family had no inclination to take Carmella, and were on the verge of euthanizing this gorgeous girl when a neighbor stepped in and contacted IAR.
