Chip is mostly glossy black. With his white muzzle, chest and paws, it looks like he is wearing a tuxedo. Chip had extensive dental disease and has had all of his teeth removed. Nevertheless, he eats dry food with no problems at all. He is in good health for a cat that is 7+ years old.
Chip is truly one-of-a-kind. Chip must have been an active cat about town in his youth. You only have to look at his ears - one half ear and the other badly tattered, to imagine what tales he could tell. When you get to know him and realize that he is toothless, well that just adds to his charm. For despite his rough exterior, Chip is one of the biggest lap cats you will ever see. Sit down to read or watch TV and Chip appears out of nowhere to jump up in your lap and vibrate with his deep, loud purr. Though he gets along well with the mature cats in his foster home, Chip is a big, old grump to the younger cats. Their lively play makes him cranky. The younger cats treat him with respect even though they know his bark is worse than his bite. Chip would be happiest in a forever home with only older cats and a minimum of hubbub.

Chip belonged to an elderly lady who is no longer able to care for all her cats. She had a kind heart and took in many strays over the years. Her son is now committed to finding loving homes for his mother's cats, where they can spend their remaining years in comfort and security. Chip is gentle and good-natured and would make a wonderful companion for another older cat or dog or person.
