All About Me

Maxine has a shiny black and tan short-haired coat.

Maxine is a good dog! She is calm, friendly, easygoing, very well-behaved, and housebroken. She is friendly and polite - both with people and with other dogs. She is quiet and barks only rarely. She enjoys being around people and will happily follow you around the house. She also enjoys being outdoors, although she prefers hanging out or going for a short stroll to running or playing fetch. Maxine is deaf, so it's especially important that she not be off-leash anywhere that is not securely fenced. Aside from not being able to hear a call from another room or from outside, Maxine's hearing loss doesn't seem to have much impact on her. Maxine's vision is good and she does a good job of keeping an eye on her foster family to know where everyone is. She learned the routine at her foster home within a few days and does great with it. Maxine doesn't have to be crated. Maxine is fine with a few steps, but prefer to avoid full flights of stairs.

Health

Maxine has age-related hearing loss, but is in otherwise excellent health for her age. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed. She has small cataracts and mild sclerosis in both eyes, which do not require any special care or treatment and which are not impacting her vision.

History

Maxine's owner went into a nursing home and Maxine was taken to a rural shelter, from which she came to IAR.
