Richard, nearly 3 years old, is an especially interesting cat.

He loves being around people and being petted. He enjoys showing off his speed by running from room to room at times, but is not over bearing. He has picked a few places in the house where he can often be found lounging. He is playful and trusting. He's a big, strong cat, but always gentle. For his size, he is light on his feet and in the rare occasion that he jumps onto the bed it is done so lightly and quietly that he goes unnoticed.

He adapted easily and quickly to his new environment. From day 1 he allowed himself to be fussed over without shying away. He explores but does not get underfoot or disturb anything, likes looking out windows and sheds very little. Richard has proven himself to be a fun and lovable guy.

Richard tested FIV+ when he came to IAR. Many FIV+ cats go on to live long lives in spite of an FIV diagnosis. Preventative care and a regime of regular veterinary exams help to ensure they remain as healthy and happy for many years. A nutritious diet, stress reduction and indoor lifestyle are the best courses of action.
