Personality Description: Charlie is a very sweet and tender boy, especially to people. He is extremely athletic and has a lot of energy and would do well with in a household that has more time in their schedule to take him on long walks, play fetch and tug.

History: We found Charlie as a stray in 2021 (he was estimated to be about a year old at this time). He was found eating out of the trash at a kitchen commissary we were using at the time. Since we were unable to locate his original owners we took him in. We do not think we are the best care for Charlie as we are not home for more than 12 hours every day.

He is now up to date on shots, his fur is healthy and clean, but he does have remaining as of yet undiagnosed GI issues that cause him to vomit regularly. He is still undergoing tests to determine the cause but in the meantime is on prescription food and a prebiotic which seems to help somewhat.

History: Marlon came from Ensenada Baja when he was only 4 months old. Unfortunately, a year ago he did bite my brother-in-law. Since my partner and I have tenants in our home, we are concerned about liability with him and frankly, my partner has never been able to forgive him. So we are looking to re-home sweet Marlon.

Personality Description: Paddy is sweet and playful. A little shy to warm up, but once she does - quickly - she will want to be your shadow.

History: We found this sweet girl on Sunday, September 8th with a 30' heavy chain padlocked tightly around her neck (it has caused some scabbing and raw spots around her neck - none oozing or open though) and as she ran she got the chain wrapped around a power pole near the road in Belen, NM. and was stuck when we found her. We took her to Ace Hardware to use their bolt cutters to cut the lock so the chain could be removed. By the way she initially behaved, she has not been treated kindly, unfortunately. However, she has not shown any aggression towards humans (adults) or our 4 dogs (small to big) and seems subservient. She does seem fairly young, seems to be intact and playful and is quickly learning how to act like a dog, in a very short time! Her tail went from tucked in to up and proud. She has just discovered the couch as I write this. We took her back home to our home in Gallup, NM., she is wanting to play so badly with our large pet pig (although the pig is not too keen on it) and in true husky fashion, has learned that our section of 3' fence is no challenge for her. So, unfortunately, in the meantime, for her safety, she is only allowed out on a leash or she is allocated to our enclosed porch or home. None of this is fair for long to a pup that has only just found her freedom from a chain and padlock. I fear, even taking her to the Humane's Society, she will not be given a fair chance. However, I will not be able to provide a foster for too long due to the busy highway and rural area I live in and the chances she may escape and get hurt. She is beautiful, the pics do not do her justice. I have tried to reach out to the local Husky rescue here, and many others, but have sadly had little success with any responses. A great home with a TALL and secure fence is needed! Paddy also requests a playmate who likes to play.

Personality Description: We are devastated and more than anything just want to find Benny a loving home where he will be happier and get to spend more time in his favorite place (the outdoors). We believe Benny would love to be a part of a home where they either have a) a big backyard and he can be an outdoor/indoor cat and spend a lot of time hunting mice and then come home whenever he is wanting to play and interact with his human companions or b) live with a specialist who can give him a structured schedule which includes a lot of time outside and who knows how to deal with his attacking. We feel horrible because he yowls at the door frequently because he just wants to be let outside, so we want him to be in a home where outside is a big part of his life. Benny will be a challenge to any home he goes to but he will also be your best friend and has a lot of love to give. He definitely has behavioral issues but he is a sweet cat and we are devastated to see him go but hope to find him a place where he can live a good life and get the help he needs to treat his behavioral problems. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about him and more than anything just want to see him go to someone who can give him the life that he deserves.

History: We took on Benny almost a year ago from his previous owner who gave him up because of his attacking issues. We took him on hopeful that we could curb the attacking with more attention than he was getting. Unfortunately that did not help him. We took him on walks, played with him, bought him treat puzzles, took him to the vet multiple times to see if there was anything medically wrong with him (they did not find anything wrong with him), we spoke with a behavoralist, but nothing we did would stop him from attacking. We think maybe his attacking stems from him not understanding that he is hurting us and is just trying to communicate with us in the only way he knows how. He isn't a mean cat and actually really enjoys being around humans. When we are home, he follows us all over the house and likes to stay close to us. He loves to play with us and will cry at the door if we go into another room and close the door before he can get in. His attacking is seemingly random which is what is the hardest thing about it because we can not figure out why he attacks or how to fix the behavior. He usually warns us by pinning his ears back and making an angry meow but no amount of distraction or ignoring or walking away has successfully prevented the attack. We suspect he might be territorial or anxious or bored or mad he cannot go outside or maybe all of the above. At first he would just attack us, but more recently he attacked my mother and my sister. We are moving in with my sister at the end of the month and after being attacked by him, she is not comfortable with him living with her so we had to make the heartbreaking decison to find him a new home.

Physical Description: Tree Trunks is a tiny bean! She has a relatively small frame with big, beautiful eyes and a silky soft coat. She lost her 2 lower canine teeth while she was lost on the streets but that doesn't stop her from eating both wet and dry food (or literally anything you give her!)

Personality Description: She is a a super sweet snuggly and playful cat! TT loves to lay on your chest or curled up next to you for a nap. She is also very playful and loves when you throw her toys for her to chase. She also enjoys BEING chased! She doesn't seem to enjoy the company of other cats and prefers to be the only one - who knows what she went through when she was lost on the streets! She hasn't been tested with dogs and isn't a fan of sudden loud noises, or being grabbed - so she may not be good with small children who haven't learned boundaries yet. Slow and intentional seems to work best for her, unless shes playing. She has a moderate tolerance for shenanigans but will verbally let you know if you've gone too far!

History: Tree Trunks was found outside in bad condition. She suffered from a broken jaw, bloody nose, missing teeth, dehydration, and intestinal parasites. Her original owner was found via chip, and they surrendered custody of her to us. TT has had quite a bouncy life going from shelter, to home, to the streets, and back into a foster home. She deserves a stable, loving forever home! She currently had an appointment in October to be spayed and vaccinated that we are covering.

She’s loves long walks and does well on leash, although sometimes she still needs help remembering not to chase squirrels! When she’s home she’s very mellow – usually napping. She’s relaxed about her schedule - happy to sleep in, wake up early, have meals whenever they come, take walks when they’re offered. She is not food aggressive and doesn’t beg for anything except snuggles. Dip has many canine friends. She is an alpha and wants to be the center of the humans’ attention, so she would do great as an only dog or with a submissive canine buddy. Dip does not chase cats and has lived/coexisted wonderfully with several felines. She is a little afraid of cats due to being attacked by one once, so she does best with those who give her space.

History: Dip was rescued from a high kill shelter 3 years ago. She has lived with the same guardian since then, which means there is lots of information about this pup and you won’t run into any surprises! Her guardian has helped her make tremendous progress with her separation anxiety, and now it’s time for Dip to find a furever home with someone who has a spacious schedule and can support her ongoing training and healing. So far, Dip has developed the capacity to be calm and alone in the car or at home for 2-3 hours under the right conditions. She can absolutely continue to build her alone time skills with dedicated training, especially now that she’s on effective meds from her vet! While Dip does prefer to be in the presence of another human, it does not have to be HER human. In other words, anyone will do (which is not the case for some dogs with separation anxiety). Dip would do great living in a household where there’s usually someone home who would enjoy a furry companion, OR with someone who has time to help her continue to work on alone time. Dip adjusts quickly and well to new people, so finding occasional sitters for her is doable.

Personality Description: He is very playful and enjoy walks and being outside. He has spouts of very high energy and enjoys playing fetch. He enjoys bird watching, or really any kind of window watching. He enjoys laying outside in the sun. He loves belly rubs and being brushed. His favorite places to be pet are his ears and his hind legs. He thrives the best in fenced in yards, so he can freely roam as he pleases. He has not been around cats since he was a puppy, so I am not sure how he would do if the household had cats. I would consider him dog selective. He takes time to get used to other dogs, but when he does, they get along great! We currently live with a German Shepherd in the house, and they are almost inseparable. He knows the basic commands (i.e. sit, stay, "paw", etc.)

History: He is 7 years old. He has been treated for demodectic mange and a slipped disc in his neck (he is a puller, so I switched back to a harness after this injury). He has seasonal allergies that flare up, but with good brushing and Cytopoint injections during the flare ups, it's easily maintained. I also have him on a salmon-based diet. I have seen the most progress in his allergies and skin since converting him to Taste of the Wild - Ancient Stream food. He has shown signs of resource guarding, which I have been unable to resolve through at home training. There has been an incident in which he was near his bag of food, and I was unaware of him guarding it and was bitten. I was under the impression I had resolved this issue, but it seems I have not.

History: Sylvester showed up in our backyard in mid-May. We believe he was abandoned by neighbors when they moved away. Though we have posted his information on social media and lost pet directories, no one has come forward to claim him. He has no microchip. As far as we can tell, Sylvester has only ever been an outdoor cat. It took a good bit of coaching to coax him onto our screened-in porch. We can't let him inside because our two cats are not as easy-going as him, but he very much wants to come indoors now. We think Sylvester would make a good indoor cat and graze on his food.

He’s also surprisingly calm when in that mode and sleeps through the night, sometimes on the floor, sometimes in bed with one of us.

History: Simba grew up with another family who had to let him go for allergy reasons, spent a couple of weeks in the Orange County animal shelter, and has been with our family now for about four weeks. He’s smart and attentive and extremely lovable – except that he can’t get used to living with our cat. And she was here first.
