Luke Skywalker is a miniature black poodle. He is currently rocking a short pixie cut (he was shaved mid-September)!
Luke Skywalker is the most loving dog, plus he is so CUTE! He loves to cuddle up next to you on the couch (or on your lap if you'll let him). He likes playing fetch and going on walks, and has the energy of a dog half his age! Luke gets along great with my puppy, Piko. He is warming up to toys and we've gotten him to play tug with us a few times, where it's an even game (but with Piko, Luke clearly and sweetly lets Piko win--check out their video). Luke definitely likes to be top dog, however. Therefore, he needs to be the only dog in the home so he doesn't have to share his human love. Luke is crate-trained, potty-trained, and great at loose-leash walking. He is completely trustworthy around household belongings.
Luke reportedly lived well with a cat in his previous home. When Luke’s owner got sick, he was clearly worried about her safety and nervous about the people coming in and out of his house. He would do best in a low-stress home without a lot of visitors. In our home we have come to completely trust his behavior when meeting strangers in relaxed environments.
Luke Skywalker has no known health problems. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. We can provide all of his vet records from his owner.
Luke Skywalker's owner became ill and was no longer able to care for him.
IAR subsidizes post-adoption professional training with Jane Marshall (www.cheerydogs.com) to encourage a life-long and successful bond between the dog and the adopter. Group classes for puppies and adult dogs are provided at a substantial discount to IAR adopters.
