Physical Description: Davey Jones is a beautiful, fluffy tricolor boy, with a feathered white tail and a ready big smile.
Personality: Davey Jones is most likely a mix of Australian Shepherd and Border Collie, heavier on the Aussie side in personality. He is the best of both worlds—energetic and playful, yet able to settle, with good leash manners. He loves to chase the ball but is not obsessed with it. Davey is a working breed and needs consistent exercise that he sees as his daily "job". Long walks as well as ball-throwing or other play. Davey enjoys riding in a car and lying quietly by my feet at coffee shops after a long walk. He is housebroken, and not much of a chewer, who plays with toys gently.
Davey is happy and intelligent, and eager to learn from, please, and bond with a human. His ability to catch on to subtle signals and learn obedience skills as well as tricks is astounding. He looks up at you, tilts his head, and figures things out!
Davey has been going on daily long hikes: in the woods, where he is content to trot by my side, as well as in busier, populated areas, where he likes to politely greet people including children. Davey is crate-trained. He likes most dogs and is currently living harmoniously with a larger female dog companion.
He loves to put his head in your lap and to cuddle at every opportunity. Davey will do well in a household where he receives affection and a routine of consistent guided exercise, and will absolutely shine with someone who appreciates his intelligence and playfulness! A fenced yard is a requirement for this dog (with exceptions).
History: Davey was abandoned in a trailer in a rural area and was brought to Orange County shelter by authorities.
