Raleigh, an Akita mix, is a big boy. (More regular exercise will help to trim him down just a tad.) He has brown on his face and ears and a mostly white body, punctuated with light brown spots, the color of barely toasted marshmallows. He has a soft, thick, short coat. When excited, he holds his tail curled over his back, in Akita fashion.

Raleigh is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, and is heartworm negative.
Raleigh was found as a stray in, you guessed it, Raleigh. He was found by a rescuer who was unable to keep him at her home due to her reactive dog. She had hoped to find a home for him, but didn't have the resources or connections to get Raleigh adopted. He has been kenneled at a boarding facility since the end of Jan 2017, and came into IAR in mid-June.
IAR subsidizes post-adoption professional training with Jane Marshall (www.cheerydogs.com) to encourage a life-long and successful bond between the dog and the adopter. Group classes for puppies and adult dogs are provided at a substantial discount to IAR adopters.
