Physical Description: Fred is a border collie/hound mix with beautiful black and white fur. He has big dark brown eyes and pretty light brown spots on his lower abdomen. He is tall and lean and at a very good weight. Fred is an amputee and is missing his left hind leg.
Personality: Fred is ALWAYS happy. He is also very active and enjoys playing with people. He is an intelligent dog and he learns commands quickly (with the help of yummy treats!). Fred is quite the charmer and is eager to please. Freddie LOVES to sit in your lap and nap. He also doesn't mind sitting still while you brush his fur. He is courteous to other dogs but prefers human interactions more.
He has successfully lived with three other dogs before and is living as a single dog in his current foster home. Fred is housebroken and pleasant on a leash with a harness but requires a firm grip as he loves to smell everything! He knows basic commands: sit, lay down, give paw. He is also quiet and well-behaved on car rides with his seatbelt and he is trustworthy to leave at home by himself.

History: Fred was found as a stray.
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: No
Good with Young Kids: Yes
Good with Older Kids: Yes
Health Information: Fred is in good health, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Even though he is able to climb steps, Fred should not climb them on a daily basis, as that could cause him knee damage over time. It would be best for him to have a fenced-in yard which is fairly level for him to play in.
IAR Sponsored Training: IAR subsidizes post-adoption professional training with Jane Marshall (www.cheerydogs.com) to encourage a life-long and successful bond between the dog and the adopter. Group classes for puppies and adult dogs are provided at a substantial discount to IAR adopters.
