  • Animal Name: Leia
  • Listing Date: 04/17/2017
  • Date of Birth: ~July 2009
  • Weight: 55 lbs
  • Breed: Plott Hound / Pointer mix
  • Physical Description: Active, middle-aged lady. Soft mottled brown coat, chocolate brown eyes, white star on her chest and white tips on her front toes. She’s got a little middle-aged bulge, but is toning up and loosing weight.
  • Personality Description: Sweet, loving girl. LOVES walks, hikes and car rides!!! Loves snuggles and gives sloppy kisses. Good with dogs; plays well with our dogs and at the dog park. Well behaved at pet-friendly restaurants. Is home during the day, not crated and well behaved. Somewhat submissive. She’s been abandoned in the past and can be a bit fearful at times (loud noises, big trucks), but is gaining confidence in a stable home. She prefers a calm environment with a routine she can count on. LOVES to lie in the sun! Please consider this sweet girl!!! She deserves a Forever Home.
  • Spayed/Neutered: yes
  • Vaccinations: up to date
  • Animal History: Leia was adopted from a rescue organization when she was about 3 years old. She thought she had a forever home until 3+ years later, her people no longer had time for her. She was left alone for very long periods, including overnights. I took her in, knowing I could help her regain her confidence and rehome her. She’s been with me for about 5 months and has blossomed!! I would keep her, but simply can’t. Won’t you please help this sweet girl!!

  • Animal Name: Allie
  • Listing Date: 04/07/2017
  • Date of Birth: 1 yr old
  • Weight: 9 lbs
  • Breed: DLH
  • Physical Description: Long hair grey/orange/white cat with green eyes and beautiful, long fluffy tail.
  • Personality Description: Allie is very timid at first, but once she gets to know you, she loves to be petted and loves to have her belly rubbed. She has a beautiful meow and uses it to let you know how excited she is to see you when you’ve been away. Allie likes to sit on the couch with me and watch TV. She has some toys she likes to play with on occasion, but has definitely passed the crazy kitten stage and spends most of the day sleeping or looking out the window.
  • Spayed/Neutered: yes
  • Vaccinations: Rabies, FVRCP;
  • Animal History: Allie followed some friends home when they were walking their dog. She really took to the dog but they couldn’t keep her, so after IAR spayed her, she came to stay in my guest room. I think she is about a year old. I have two older cats who don’t like change, otherwise, I would keep her. Allie would be happiest in a home with a dog that likes cats (I believe she thinks she is part dog) and/or other cats that like to play. She has no desire to go outside but does like to sit and look out the window. I have convinced her to sit on the screened porch for a bit, but she prefers to be inside the house.

  • Animal Name: Shea
  • Listing Date: 03/30/2017
  • Date of Birth: adult
  • Weight: 10.5 lbs
  • Breed: DSH
  • Physical Description: short-haired gray tuxedo with a little buff underneath, green eyes with "eyeliner"
  • Personality Description: Shea is friendly towards people but a little timid. She enjoys getting petted and laying on the couch next to someone or gazing out a window. She was very talkative outdoors, but has quieted since coming inside. Shea seems indifferent to the presence of other cats (neither friendly nor hostile to them).
  • Spayed/Neutered: yes
  • Vaccinations: Rabies, FVRCP
  • Animal History: Shea showed up in the neighborhood a couple of years ago. She has been living in a neighbor's crawlspace and eating food from our porch. When several other cats arrived to follow her around a few months ago, we decided to capture her for IAR's TNR program, but it turned out she was already spayed. Upon returning home, we discovered how friendly Shea is (we have had a feral cat before who did not react well at all to being indoors, but Shea was very calm and happy inside). We already have three kitties of our own, so we are trying to find Shea a forever home.

Robert "Bob" Humphrey

  • Animal Name: Robert "Bob" Humphrey
  • Listing Date: 03/30/2017
  • Date of Birth: adult
  • Weight: 9.5 lbs
  • Breed: DLH
  • Physical Description: long-haired mackerel tabby with a mane, very soft; yellow-green eyes; amputated tail (just a nub left)
  • Personality Description: Bob is adorable. He rolls around on the floor and he plays with all sorts of toys. He loves attention, but he is too squirmy to sit still in a lap. If you meow and squeak at Bob, he will meow and squeak back, conversing with you. Bob craves attention, in fact, so he needs a loving home that can give him the attention he deserves. But Bob also enjoys laying in a window and staring out into the yard, watching the squirrels and birds. Bob also requires regular brushing or trips to a groomer, having such long and fine hair that easily gets matted.
  • Spayed/Neutered: yes
  • Vaccinations: Rabies, FVRCP; tested positive for FIV (so Bob needs to be an only kitty, or in a home with another FIV+ kitty)
  • Animal History: Bob is one of the males that showed up outside a few months ago to follow Shea around. We didn't intend to capture him for IAR's TNR program; but he was the first in the trap, so we brought him along, which was lucky for him. Bob had suffered an injury and lost his tail, so IAR further amputated it and stitched him up. During his convalescence, we discovered that Bob is a very, very friendly kitty, so we are trying to find him a forever home (we already have three, and Bob, sadly, tested positive for FIV).
