Physical Description: Nell is a chestnut brown and white American English coonhound mix with ticking (chestnut brown spots) on her legs.
Personality: Nell is a mellow, sweet girl with lots of love to give. At heart, she is a lap dog, but due to her size, she has learned to settle for cuddling next to you—with her head in your lap whenever possible. New friends are welcome after just a bit of sniffing and checking out. And if you love doggie kisses and she can get her face near yours, she’d be happy to shower you with them! Nell likes to hang out in the yard when the weather is warm and sunny. She loves her crate as a safe place when she needs a little alone time, but does not require crating when left alone, as she respects all home belongings. Nell greets her person with great enthusiasm after an absence, and is learning how to express her enthusiasm appropriately. She will sometimes even sit without being told when she's very excited. Good on a leash, she rarely pulls and is making great progress on working on gaining confidence when other dogs approach her while on walks. Nell needs a good bit of exercise, so a fenced-in yard and a person/family who love walking/hiking would be perfect for her!
History: Nell was rescued when her owner became ill and could not care for her.
